UNC Men's Soccer Loses to No. 21 Clemson, 2-1

The University of North Carolina men's soccer team lost to No. 21 Clemson 2-1 in an ACC matchup on Saturday night at Dorrance Field, Play2Dream Legacy Stadium. Clemson took an early lead in the eighth minute with a goal from Martin Bakken, who headed in a well-placed cross. The Tar Heels equalized in the 36th minute when Joschi Schelb maneuvered past a defender and scored through the goalkeeper's legs.

Despite holding a significant advantage in overall shots with 18 compared to Clemson's seven, both teams registered five shots on goal. UNC also dominated in corner kicks, earning 16 to Clemson's three. The game took a turn when Clemson's Xander Sevian was issued a second yellow card in the 82nd minute, reducing the Tigers to nine players.

Key moments included an excellent early save by Carolina's Alan Rutkowski to deny Ransford Gyan in the 9th minute and another key stop against Xander Sevian later in the first half. In the 61st minute, Malick Daouda scored from outside the box to regain the lead for Clemson.

Joschi Schelb's goal marked his fifth of the season and the 25th of his career. The Tar Heels will be back in action next Saturday at 7 p.m., hosting Lipscomb at Dorrance Field.
