Andreescu, 26, staged a comeback from a 5-2 deficit in the first set to defeat sixth-seeded Dominika Salkova 7-6(2), 6-2 at the Rovereto Open Città della Pace, a WTA 125 event held in Italy. This victory marked Andreescu’s third win against a seeded player in the tournament, having previously defeated top seed Antonia Ruzic and fifth seed Lucrezia Stefanini. The title represents Andreescu’s most significant achievement since her 2019 US Open win and her 12th professional singles title overall. Following this win, she climbed 36 positions to No. 132 in the WTA rankings, her highest since reaching No. 127 in April.
In Edmond, Oklahoma, Stephens, who won the US Open in 2017, triumphed over 16-year-old Kristina Liutova to claim the ITF W100 Edmond title. This victory is Stephens’ first since she captured the WTA 250 event in Rouen in 2024, adding to her tally of 11 professional singles titles. After beginning the season outside the top 1,000, she moved up 15 places to No. 118 in the latest rankings, her highest since February 2025.
