Ferrer has announced that he will step down as captain in 2027, with Marc López set to succeed him. In an interview with 'RadioEstadio Noche' on Onda Cero, Toni Nadal expressed confidence that Rafa would be interested in leading the team when the time comes. "I believe Rafa will want to be Davis captain; I don't know when, but I suppose he would like to, and it will be his time. Besides, Rafa is someone who brings people together," he stated.

Toni Nadal also praised Marc López, highlighting his strong relationship with Rafa, noting their collaboration that led to a gold medal at the 2016 Rio Olympics. "The captaincy of the Davis Cup is almost a reward for these great players, and it should be somewhat rotational. Marc López is a wonderful person, knows a lot about tennis, and gets along with everyone," he added.

On a different note, Toni Nadal discussed the uncertainties surrounding the selection of the five players for the Davis Cup in Bologna. The expected first four players are Carlos Alcaraz, Rafa Jódar, Marcel Granollers, and Pedro Martínez, but the fifth spot is contested, particularly between Jódar and Alejandro Davidovich, who has recently shown strong performance by defeating Jódar in the Shanghai Masters 1000 final.

Toni Nadal referred to this as a positive dilemma, noting both Jódar and Davidovich are performing well. "Either of them could be the number 2 for Davis. Davidovich has achieved a calmness that makes him a very dangerous player for any opponent," he concluded.
