USA and Mexico Set for International Friendly in Glendale

The USMNT has started the fall international window with impressive victories, first beating Peru 4-1 and then Chile 4-2. Julian Hall, a forward for Red Bull New York, made headlines by scoring in both matches, becoming the youngest player ever to score in his first two USMNT appearances. Cavan Sullivan from Philadelphia Union also made an impact as he recently turned 17, becoming the fourth-youngest debutant in the team's modern era. Additionally, Orlando City forward Justin Ellis recorded the fastest goal in a debut match by scoring within four minutes against Peru.

Head coach Mauricio Pochettino, who named a 28-man roster with 13 MLS players, has given 12 players their international debuts during this camp, aiming to broaden the player pool following the USMNT's Round of 16 finish in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

On the other hand, Mexico has drawn both of its opening matches in the fall window, with 1-1 results against Colombia and Peru. Gilberto Mora from Club Tijuana equalized against Colombia, while Víctor Guzmán from CF Monterrey scored against Peru. This match will mark the first games under their new head coach Rafael Márquez, a former player with 147 caps, who succeeded Javier Aguirre after the World Cup.

Mexico’s roster includes two MLS forwards: Germán Berterame from Inter Miami CF and Chucky Lozano from LA Galaxy, along with Obed Vargas, who recently joined Atlético Madrid from Seattle Sounders FC.
