In other news, Charleston County has acquired a 1.52-acre plot of land at the intersection of Ashley River and Old Parsonage roads for $1.5 million, with plans to construct a new magistrate court. The 2,000-foot living shoreline utilizes oyster castles made from shell, concrete, and limestone to combat coastal erosion and support oyster larvae. Volunteers have reported increased sediment, new oysters growing on the castles, and the return of marsh grass, with the final volunteer event scheduled for October 24.
