BATON ROUGE — LSU's men's basketball team continues to face challenges ahead of their first exhibition game against McNeese State, with a current roster featuring only four players. Marcio Santos, who had previously committed to LSU, has opted to return to Spain and will play for EuroLeague's Saski Baskonia, as announced this week.

Santos, a Brazilian player, had previously played in the EuroLeague before his commitment to LSU in May. However, he had not been cleared to play by the NCAA. In 2025, he played for Maccabi Tel Aviv in Israel and has a history with Franca from 2018 to 2024, as well as Ratiopharm Ulm in 2024.
Currently, LSU head coach Will Wade’s roster is in flux. Wade noted last week that the basketball team had 15 players, but officially only four players are currently listed: Divine Ugochukwu, Abdhi Bashir Jr., Astin Nunez, and Mouhamed Dioubate. A standard basketball team requires five players to take the court.
