Napheesa Collier led the Lynx with 23 points, while Olivia Miles contributed 21 points and made history by breaking the WNBA rookie record for points in a season. Miles achieved her 770th point with a free throw in the second quarter, surpassing the previous record held by Caitlin Clark, who scored 769 points for Indiana in 2024.
The Lynx, who had previously lost three straight games, started strong with an 11-2 lead in the first few minutes. Collier scored the first four points of the game, and Courtney Williams added five points during the early run. By the end of the first quarter, the Lynx were ahead 27-12, with Collier contributing 10 points.
Minnesota continued to extend their lead, achieving a 45-26 advantage after a layup from Collier late in the second quarter. However, the Sun responded with a 15-4 run to narrow the gap, only to see Collier restore a double-digit lead with a 3-point play just before halftime.
Despite hot shooting from beyond the arc, where the Sun made 15 of 28 attempts, they were unable to overcome the Lynx's lead. Connecticut had former players and staff in attendance to honor former coach Mike Thibault, who led the franchise from its inception in 2003 until 2012. The team acknowledged him in what was their second-to-last home game before relocating to Houston next season.
The Sun, now 10-32, have lost five consecutive games and faced injury challenges, including the loss of Saniya Rivers in the first quarter, who did not return to the game.
Looking ahead, the Lynx will visit Indiana on Tuesday, while the Sun will play against the Mystics the same day.
