Milan Momcilovic, who has been wearing a splint due to a finger issue, is set to be cleared to practice without it next week. Trent Noah, recovering from a hamstring injury, is expected to return in a few weeks as well. Kam Williams is on track for a return just in time for the regular season.
Pope spoke about Williams' injury history, noting that he re-injured his previous Jones fracture, which did not heal correctly. As a result, he underwent more extensive surgery this summer, and Pope expressed confidence in Williams' recovery. “We have very high expectations of him to be back healthy. I'd like to get him healthy because he's a really good player,” Pope said.
Pope emphasized that Williams’ familiarity with the team's system will benefit him upon his return. He mentioned that Williams participated in shooting workouts and appeared to perform well. Pope remarked on his shooting, stating, “I didn't see him miss, and so I like that.”
Despite the positive updates on Williams and others, the injury to Morton raises concerns about depth for the team, an ongoing issue during Pope's tenure at Lexington.
