Pitt Women’s Soccer Secures Scoreless Draw Against No. 4 Duke

Despite being outshot 18-7 by the Blue Devils, Pitt managed to keep Duke from scoring for the first time this year. Duke started strong, generating early offensive opportunities, but Pitt quickly responded with two shots in the opening 15 minutes.

In the 69th minute, Duke nearly scored amid a scramble in front of the net, but the Panthers' defense and a handball by Duke thwarted the effort.

Pitt seemed to score in the 79th minute with Sofia Doheny's breakaway goal, but it was ruled offsides, keeping the match scoreless.

In the final ten minutes, Pitt intensified their offensive efforts, creating opportunities near the Duke net. With a minute left in regulation, Sage Stelzer's attempt to chip the goalkeeper was deflected, leading to Adi Bianchin's bicycle kick that was also saved.

In the final moments, a cross from Stelzer found Katie Zailski, but her header went just over the goal as the match concluded.

This draw marks the first tie between Pitt and Duke in their series history.
