Nicolò Tresoldi, a rising star at Club Brugge, captured attention by scoring a hat-trick in a surprising 4-3 Champions League victory over Inter Milan on October 13, 2026. At just 22 years old, he has become a celebrated figure in European football while being pursued by the Italian national team.

Despite his current success, Tresoldi faced rejection from several Italian clubs during his youth. Marco Bedini, his only coach in Italy while with the Fontanelle youth team, revealed that Tresoldi was snubbed by Atalanta, Milan, Fiorentina, Bologna, and Juventus. "They all said, 'we’ve already got players of that level,' and rejected him," Bedini stated.
Originally from Gubbio, Tresoldi moved to Germany with his family in 2017 due to his mother's job in the airline industry. He began his football career with the Hannover 96 youth academy in 2018, yet his path could have diverged significantly had the Italian clubs recognized his talent earlier. Bedini noted that he often excelled in scoring against older players, yet clubs sought taller, more physically imposing strikers.
Though his father, Emanuele, played as a defender for Siena, Nicolò was positioned as a centre-forward despite his smaller stature. As a child, he also played tennis, but frequently showcased his scoring ability in five-a-side games. Bedini reminisced about Tresoldi's dedication, saying he would return to Gubbio after trials, undeterred and determined to keep scoring goals.
Tresoldi is known to be a Milan supporter, adding extra significance to his hat-trick performance against Inter. Bedini recalled that even at 12, Tresoldi demonstrated diverse scoring skills and had a particular admiration for Pippo Inzaghi, often copying his movements during training.
