Sporting Kansas City Set to Face Houston Dynamo FC on Saturday

After two consecutive home games, Sporting Kansas City returns to the road for this Western Conference match. The game features key Brazilian players: Sporting's Andre Luiz and Houston's Guilherme.

Andre Luiz, who was acquired for a club-record transfer fee from Olympiacos FC, comes into the match with momentum, having scored three goals in the last two games. He netted his first MLS goal against LAFC on September 12 and followed up with a brace against Philadelphia, making him the first player in club history to score twice within the first 10 minutes of an MLS match.

Sporting Kansas City has a solid record against Houston, having earned points in nine of the last eleven league matches (5-2-4) since 2021. However, they suffered a 2-0 loss to the Dynamo last month, leveling the all-time regular-season series at 15 wins and 17 draws.

SKC previously won the season series in 2025, with a comeback 3-1 victory in Houston and a scoreless draw at home. Sporting has not recorded a clean sheet in 25 regular-season matches this year, marking the longest streak in club history.

Houston Dynamo, led by head coach Ben Olsen, remains unbeaten at home in 11 games across all competitions, with an 8-0-3 record since April. They have conceded only 10 goals at home this season, the fewest in MLS.

Currently positioned second in the Western Conference, Houston took advantage of the summer transfer window by signing striker Lyle Foster on loan from Burnley. Foster awaits his debut after representing South Africa in the World Cup.

Guilherme, who is 31, is one of ten players aged 30 or older on a Dynamo roster known for its experience, averaging 28 years in age. In contrast, Sporting Kansas City's oldest player, goalkeeper Stefan Cleveland, is 32. This season, the team has seen 20 different players make their debuts, the highest since the club's founding in 1996.
