Nike's first signature sneaker for Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark, the Caitlin 1, has nearly sold out less than two hours after its release in the U.S. The sneakers became available at 10 a.m. ET on Nike.com, and by approximately 11 a.m., only extra-large sizes above size 15 remained. The available inventory from Nike has not been disclosed.

The Caitlin 1 is also nearly sold out at major retailers like Foot Locker, Champs Sports, and Hibbett. On resale platforms such as eBay, the sneakers are already being listed starting at $200.

During Nike's earnings call on Thursday, CEO Elliott Hill noted the significant growth in the company's women's basketball sector as they aim to reconnect with consumers. Nike’s stock has dropped over 50% in the past year, affected by concerns about product innovation, increased competition, and challenges in the Chinese market. Hill cited that Nike's women's signature line has expanded nearly 500% over the past four years, stating, "One of our most powerful growth opportunities is the women's game."

The launch of the Caitlin 1 has been dubbed the largest introduction of a women's signature shoe in Nike’s history, with the release occurring in 5,000 stores—double the usual for a Nike basketball signature shoe. This rollout was also supported by the company's most significant product campaign for the holiday season.

Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever are set to participate in a crucial Game 3 playoff match against the Las Vegas Aces on Thursday night at 9 p.m. ET. The shoe retails for $140 and comes in adult sizes, while kids' sizes are expected to be available soon. It is offered in two colorways: "Caitlin Blue" and a bright yellow.

Reflecting on her new signature footwear, Clark said, "A lot of thought and time has gone into this shoe. I never thought I would have my own signature shoe, and now that I do, it's pretty special." Nike signed Clark in 2022 while she was still at the University of Iowa and later secured an eight-year, $28 million contract in April 2024.
