Villanova opened the scoring in the fifth minute with a goal from Dez Zapata, assisted by Gabby Koluch off a free kick. Emma Gregorski (South Glastonbury, Conn.) equalized for Providence in the 24th minute with an Olimpico goal from a corner kick, marking her first career goal. This Olimpico was the second for the Friars in 2026.

Both teams ended the first half with five shots each, with Providence goalkeeper Caitlin Daley making two crucial saves.

Villanova regained the lead in the 50th minute when Morgan Kotch found the net, assisted by Avrie Nelsen and Zapata. Zapata extended the Wildcats' lead in the 61st minute, bringing the score to 3-1. Providence responded swiftly; Kaitlyn Brady (Covington, La.) scored her first career goal in the 66th minute, trimming the deficit to 3-2.

In the 76th minute, Carolyn Hinkle (Millersville, Pa.) scored the equalizer for Providence, also receiving assistance from Jocy Koffi and Amaya Coffie. The three goals marked the highest tally that Villanova has conceded in any match this season.

Providence outshot Villanova 18-16 overall, and both teams are now tied for the most draws in NCAA Division I this season, with nine each.

The Friars will next head on the road to face Seton Hall (4-1-5, 0-1-3 in BIG EAST) on Saturday, October 17, with kickoff at 1:00 p.m. The matchup will be streamed on ESPN+. Providence leads the all-time series against the Pirates with a record of 14-10-0.
