As the WTA season approaches its conclusion, one singles spot is still available for the WTA Finals in Indian Wells. Seven players have already qualified: Elena Rybakina, Aryna Sabalenka, Mirra Andreeva, Jessica Pegula, Coco Gauff, Elina Svitolina, and Linda Noskova.

Currently in contention for the final spot are Karolina Muchova (ranked No. 7 with 4,735 points), Iga Swiatek (No. 9 with 4,189 points), and Marta Kostyuk (No. 10 with 3,920 points). Muchova is not competing this week, so her chances of qualification rely on the performance of Swiatek and Kostyuk in Ningbo.

The situation is clear: If Swiatek fails to reach the quarterfinals and Kostyuk does not advance to the final, Muchova will secure the last spot.

Conversely, deeper runs by either Swiatek or Kostyuk would keep the qualification race ongoing.

Swiatek, the No. 2 seed, is set to face Marie Bouzkova, while Kostyuk will meet either Hanyu Guo or Ekaterina Alexandrova. Both Swiatek and Kostyuk are positioned in the same half of the 28-player draw in Ningbo, potentially setting up a semifinal clash.

The WTA Finals are scheduled to begin on November 8 in Indian Wells.
