The incident occurred at the Scheve Athletic Center when police were alerted shortly before 9:40 p.m. on a Tuesday, with reports indicating that someone was photographing players as they changed. Upon arrival, officers discovered Barker being detained by campus safety personnel.
Barker, a contract custodial employee at the college, had concealed himself in the ceiling area prior to being discovered by a team member. Wilmington College has stated that it is focused on the safety and well-being of its students, offering counseling and support services to those affected since the incident.
Barker is set to appear in court again on October 5. Wilmington College, along with the Wilmington Police Department and the Clinton County Sheriff's Office, continues to assist with the investigation.
