Assistant Coach Falaileato Suiaunoa, who has experience coaching in the NCAA at Northeastern State University in Oklahoma, emphasizes her focus on player development and team culture. "Our program has many new young talented players along with a diverse group of older mature players with collegiate experience," she stated. The team has been working on fundamental skills and enhancing athleticism in preparation for the upcoming competition.

From their experience at the 2022 FIBA Women's Polynesian Cup, conditioning, fundamentals, and team strategies have become focal points in their training. This year’s roster includes five players who will debut in international competition, adding youthful energy to the squad. Suiaunoa expressed enthusiasm for their competitiveness and spirit, noting the importance of experienced players guiding them through the challenges of international play.

Training has occurred in various settings, with local players consistently working on the island and others training abroad. "We are grateful to have access to our Department of Education school facilities and local parks when other options are unavailable," Suiaunoa remarked. The focus remains on building a tough and disciplined defense, while also being organized and aggressive in offense.

The team aims to establish its identity through cohesion, discipline, and collaboration on the court. Beyond their performance, they are driven by a mission to inspire young girls in American Samoa and foster growth in women's basketball on the island. "Our goal is to create, develop, and grow girls' basketball," said Suiaunoa. The players aspire to be role models for the youth, showcasing the values of hard work and determination rooted in Samoan culture.
