FIBA has introduced a National Qualification Phase for the 2027 edition of the Youth Basketball Champions League Americas (Youth BCL Americas), following the inaugural tournament won by Brazil's Paulistano. Under the new system, the top four clubs from each participating country's U17 national league will compete in a Final Four format. Teams will compete in a round-robin setting, with the champion securing an automatic place in the tournament's final phase.
The qualification phase will kick off with Argentina's U17 Liga Federal Formativa Final Four on September 26 and 27. This will be followed by Brazil's U17 Campeonato Brasileiro Interclubes Final Four, scheduled for September 29 to October 1. Streaming of both events will be available on the official BCL Americas YouTube channel.
The champions of these Final Fours will earn spots in the 2027 Final Phase, with plans to replicate the model in several other countries across the Americas. This initiative aims to enhance high-level competition for U17 teams and promote collaboration between national federations, youth leagues, and clubs.
