The NBA is pursuing a two-pronged strategy that includes global games alongside regular-season matches in Europe, with plans to establish a permanent league set to debut by the start of the 2027–28 season. Currently known informally as NBA Europe and backed by FIBA, this initiative positions Paris as a significant player in this expansion.

On Saturday, the City of Paris reaffirmed its political commitment to Paris Basketball, citing the club’s rapid advancement, considerable public support, and economic contributions. This announcement follows notable achievements for the club, including the opening of the modern Adidas Arena in early 2024 and winning its first French championship in June 2025 by defeating AS Monaco, after previously securing the BKT EuroCup title in 2024.

As of the beginning of the 2026–27 EuroLeague Regular Season, Paris Basketball, under the guidance of coach Max Lefevre, has a record of 1–2. With the city’s backing, the club will continue to compete at both the Adidas Arena and the Accor Arena, which may pose challenges if a new team associated with NBA Europe is introduced.
