Council recently received favorable legal news allowing him to play this season. A Monroe County, New York, judge granted him a preliminary injunction against the NCAA on Tuesday, which not only ensures his eligibility but also protects him and any potential school from retroactive penalties.

Last season, Council was named Big 12 Newcomer of the Year, starting in 35 games and averaging 12.7 points per game with shooting percentages of 39.2% from the field and 30.8% from beyond the arc. He previously played at Monroe College, where he earned two NJCAA Division I All-American honors, before spending a season with Wagner where he helped the team secure an NCAA Tournament win. After a stint at St. Bonaventure, where he led the Atlantic 10 with 72 steals, Council transitioned to Kansas and led the Jayhawks in assists last season, contributing to a strong performance in the Big 12, ranking sixth in assists and seventh in assist-to-turnover ratio.

While speculation surrounds his potential move to Kentucky, the uncertainty and lack of prior discussions about the Wildcats as a destination suggest fans should remain cautious about expecting his arrival. Council primarily plays point guard, complicating the fit with an existing roster that includes Zoom Diallo and Alex Wilkins. Updates will follow following his announcement on Sunday.
