Southall expressed enthusiasm about Tabb's hiring, noting his extensive experience and record of success at institutions such as Trinity College, Brown University, and Brandeis University. He highlighted Tabb's knowledge of the game and dedication to developing student-athletes as qualities that will enhance the college’s athletic program.
In response to his new role, Tabb commented on his excitement about joining Elms College, a school he has greatly admired since his upbringing in Western Massachusetts. He thanked Southall, Vice President Andrew Coston, President Dr. Harry Dumay, and the search committee for the opportunity. Tabb emphasized his eagerness to engage with players and build on the successes of the previous season, aligning with the values and mission of Elms College.
Before his tenure at Elms, Tabb was the Head Coach of the Boys’ Basketball team at Middlesex School and served as an Assistant Coach at both Brandeis University and Brown University. His previous experience includes a stint as Head Men’s Basketball Coach at Trinity College from 2009 to 2011, where he recorded a total of 19 wins and 29 losses.
Tabb is a graduate of the University of Hartford, where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Education in 1998, and he later obtained a Graduate Degree in Sports Studies from Virginia Commonwealth University. He played three seasons as a Division I guard for the Hartford Hawks, appearing in 46 games, before finishing his collegiate career at Quinnipiac University.
