In an email sent to parents on Monday night, Strikers president Gabe Harp acknowledged the situation, stating, "The South Portland Strikers Board of Directors is aware of an ongoing matter that involves the potential unauthorized use of club funds in 2025 and 2026 by a former member of our board."
Harp emphasized the club's commitment to fiduciary responsibility, noting that they have engaged an external financial expert to enhance their financial controls and governance practices. He also mentioned that, due to the ongoing legal matter, specific details could not be shared and that the organization aims to cooperate fully with law enforcement.
The Cumberland County District Attorney's Office indicated that it may take two to three weeks before the case is submitted for potential charges.
