Tommy Fleetwood Withdraws from French Open Due to Illness

PARIS (AP) — Tommy Fleetwood, a prominent figure in the Ryder Cup, has withdrawn from the French Open prior to the third round on Saturday due to illness. The European Tour announced on its website that Fleetwood “sadly had to withdraw due to illness,” but did not provide additional details.

After finishing his second round on Friday, Fleetwood was at 6-under par. Matt Fitzpatrick, another English golfer, led the tournament at 13-under. Jeff Winther from Denmark was one stroke behind Fitzpatrick as they prepared to start their third rounds.
