In 2024, the Tigers secured second place behind Sichuan Yuanda Meile, while last year they only managed one win out of three games in Dongguan. This year’s competition presents a fresh opportunity for redemption, especially after they dominated the WSBL during the 2025-26 season, sweeping Chunghwa Telecom in the best-of-5 finals. This victory marked their 16th consecutive league title, bringing their total trophy count to 20.
Fans can expect to see young star Yu Wen-Hsiao leading the team's offense, supported by veteran international players Penina Davidson and Shelbey Cheslek. This will be the first FIBA club competition for both imports. Davidson, a key player for the New Zealand national team since 2013, has played professionally in Australia's Women's NBL and has also had stints in Greece. Cheslek, who graduated from Gonzaga University in 2016, brings extensive international experience from playing in ten different countries.
With a strong lineup and a chance to make history, the Tigers are hopeful that this tournament will finally bring them the gold they have been seeking.
