Trammell most recently served as an assistant coach with the Chicago Sky for the 2026 season. Throughout her WNBA career, she has worked with top players and has held both head and assistant coaching roles.
"Welcoming Latricia Trammell back to Oklahoma is incredibly special," said head coach Jennie Baranczyk. "Her extensive experience and ability to connect with players will elevate our program significantly. As an Oklahoma native, she understands the pride in representing this state, and we're excited to have her on board."
In 2023, Trammell became the head coach of the Dallas Wings, leading the team to a franchise record 22 wins and a second-place finish in the Western Conference. Under her leadership, the Wings advanced to the WNBA semifinals and Trammell was a finalist for the WNBA Coach of the Year.
Expressing her gratitude, Trammell said, "I am grateful to Coach Baranczyk for this opportunity to return to my home state and be part of something special at Oklahoma. I respect what Jennie has built here and am committed to helping us achieve great success in the upcoming seasons."
During her time with the Wings, Trammell played a key role in the development of standout players. Satou Sabally received All-WNBA First Team honors and was named Most Improved Player, while Arike Ogunbowale earned All-Star Game MVP honors and second-team All-WNBA recognition.
Prior to her role in Dallas, Trammell spent four seasons with the Los Angeles Sparks, contributing to the team's strong defensive reputation. While there, four Sparks players secured All-Defensive Team honors, including Defensive Player of the Year Candace Parker.
Trammell also briefly returned to Los Angeles in 2025 as a special assistant and joined the Chicago Sky in 2026, furthering her coaching impact.
Before transitioning to the professional level, Trammell built a successful collegiate coaching career. She began as an assistant coach at Texas Woman's University and later secured a head coach position at Western State. Trammell returned to Oklahoma in 2012, leading Oklahoma City University to two NAIA national championships in 2014 and 2015.
Trammell will join the Sooners ahead of their exhibition game against Southern Nazarene on October 25 and the regular season opener against North Carolina on November 2 in Paris.
