The Memphis Grizzlies waived guard D'Angelo Russell on Friday, just before the start of training camp, as part of their ongoing rebuild focused on younger players. In addition, the team signed Brendan Hausen.

Russell, a former All-Star, was originally drafted second overall by the Los Angeles Lakers in 2015. He joined the Grizzlies this summer following a six-team, 11-player trade involving the Washington Wizards. Over his 11-year NBA career, Russell has played 655 games with the Lakers, Brooklyn Nets, Golden State Warriors, Minnesota Timberwolves, and Dallas Mavericks.

Hausen, who went undrafted in June, has played 120 college games, starting 33, at Villanova, Kansas State, and Iowa.
