Wake Forest Women's Basketball to Face Arkansas in SEC/ACC Challenge on December 3

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Wake Forest women’s basketball will compete against Arkansas in the SEC/ACC Challenge on Thursday, December 3, at 9 p.m. ET. The game will take place at Bud Walton Arena and will be broadcasted on the SEC Network.

This marks the second meeting between the Demon Deacons and the Razorbacks, with their last matchup occurring on November 27, 2020, at the Gulf Coast Showcase in Fort Myers, Florida.

The Demon Deacons participated in the SEC/ACC Challenge most recently during the 2023-24 season, where they hosted Texas A&M on November 30, 2023. This will be the fourth edition of the challenge.

In the upcoming season, Wake Forest enters its fifth year under head coach Megan Gebbia, following a successful 2025-26 season in which the team secured 14 victories, including a nine-game winning streak that marked the best start since the 2008-09 season. During that stretch, Wake Forest was the last undefeated team in the ACC and one of 28 teams nationwide to win its first nine games. The Deacs also participated in the 2026 WNIT, marking their second appearance in the event in four years.

Six players return to the Wake Forest roster: Mary Carter, Aurora Sørbye, Opal Bird, Madisyn Jordan, Grace Galbavy, and Savannah Metcalfe. Last season, Carter led the team in three-pointers made, while Sørbye topped the squad in assists. Carter also boasted the highest free-throw percentage (.864) on the team. Bird and Carter shared the team-high in blocks with 21. Jordan was a consistent presence, playing in all 31 games, while Galbavy appeared in 20 games and Metcalfe participated in 14 before an injury sidelined her for the remainder of the season.

Wake Forest has welcomed six new scholarship players: Oshauna Holland, Adora Nwude, Helena Danielewicz, Breauna Ware, Ramiyah Byrd, and Mckenzie Swanson. Holland, hailing from Belmont, is North Carolina's all-time leading scorer in high school girls basketball. Nwude has over 1,000 career points, and Danielewicz recently competed with Poland at the FIBA U-18 Women's EuroBasket. Ware brings experience from playing 84 collegiate games at Wisconsin, Stony Brook, and St. Bonaventure, while Byrd was a standout rebounder at Cincinnati. Swanson joins after two seasons at Butler and was previously nominated for the McDonald’s All-American Game as a four-star recruit.
