To mark this milestone, the contest introduces a new format featuring three dedicated categories, providing participants with more opportunities to explore different facets of basketball. The categories are:
1. **Elite Basketball**: Focusing on the intensity and unforgettable moments at the highest level of play.
2. **Community Basketball**: Highlighting the game’s ability to unite people and its positive social impact through initiatives like Basketball For Good, schools, playgrounds, and local courts.
3. **Vintage Basketball**: Encouraging participants to share photographs that reflect the game's cultural heritage and evolution over generations.
To enhance its offerings, the FIBA Photo Contest has also established a new prize structure. Three category winners will be selected by a jury, each receiving 2,000 CHF in photography equipment, social media recognition from FIBA, and inclusion in the annual FIBA Photo Book. From these winners, the jury will choose the FIBA Shot of the Year, which will receive additional recognition and a five-day photography experience at the FIBA Basketball World Cup in Qatar in 2027.
Photographers, whether professionals or amateurs, are invited to share their best basketball images as part of this global celebration of the sport. Winners will be announced in mid-December, and the top photographs will be featured in the annual FIBA Photo Book. The FIBA Foundation, which serves as the social and legacy arm of FIBA, focuses on the role of basketball in society and promotes its values and cultural heritage.
