Colorado State Soccer Begins Pac-12 Play with Matches Against Fresno State and Utah State

The game against Fresno State will take place at Bulldog Soccer Stadium in Fresno, California, with kickoff scheduled for 8 p.m. MT (7 p.m. PT). Fans can watch the match on the Pac-12's YouTube channel, and live statistics will be available through StatBroadcast.

On Sunday, CSU will host Utah State at CSU Soccer Field, with the match starting at noon. Fans are encouraged to wear green to support the seniors.

Historically, Thursday marks the 15th meeting between Colorado State and Fresno State, both of whom were former Mountain West rivals. The Bulldogs lead the series 7-4-3, having won their last encounter 1-0 on October 16, 2025. In recent matchups, CSU holds a 3-2-1 record over the last six meetings, including a 2-0 victory in the 2023 Mountain West Tournament quarters and a 3-2 win in Fort Collins on October 6, 2024. However, the Rams face challenges in Fresno, capturing only one win there historically, a 1-0 victory on October 5, 2023.

Sunday will also mark the 18th meeting with Utah State, which leads the series 10-4-3 and is unbeaten in the last nine clashes, recording a 6-0-3 record. Utah State has eliminated CSU from the postseason three times in four years, including the 2021 Mountain West Tournament, the 2023 championship, and the 2024 semifinals.

The last two regular-season encounters ended in draws, with the teams finishing 1-1 in both Fort Collins and Logan. CSU's last win against Utah State occurred on March 7, 2021, when they won 2-1 in Fort Collins.

On Sunday, CSU will honor six seniors: goalkeeper Maddie Bassett, defender Bridget Arnold, midfielders Mia Casey and Avery Boulom, and forwards Shadia Valenzuela and Linnea Nestor. Mia Casey, positioned just one assist away from matching the program record, has the opportunity to tie the mark on Senior Day.

The Bulldogs currently stand at 1-8-2 following a 2-0 loss at Cal. In that game, Fresno was outshot 9-4, with their only win this season occurring on September 6 against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.

Fresno State’s roster underwent significant changes with eight transfers this offseason. Goalkeeper Kennedy Arntzen has been in the last three starting positions, while forward Abigail Herren has been active, leading the team in shots against Cal.

In contrast, Utah State arrives with a record of 7-2-2, having faced a challenging non-conference schedule and boasting a signature 4-0 victory over No. 13 BYU on September 10. Sophomore goalkeeper Ivy Nystrom has achieved four shutouts in the early season, while head coach Manny Martins has a history of leading the Aggies to consecutive Mountain West titles and NCAA Tournament appearances.

The Rams enter the week after a 3-1 defeat against Weber State. CSU has seen nine of its ten matches this season decided by one goal or ending in a draw, with the recent loss being the first with a two-goal margin.

Sunday’s match will also serve as the first Pac-12 game at CSU Soccer Field. Following these matches, Colorado State will host Gonzaga on October 8 and travel to San Diego State on October 11.
