At 19 years old, Andreeva is the youngest player to secure the women's singles title at Roland Garros since Monica Seles of Yugoslavia, who was 18 when she won her third consecutive French Open in 1992.
Andreeva also becomes the first Russian woman to win a Grand Slam since Maria Sharapova claimed the French Open title in 2014, and she is the first teenager to win the championship since Poland's Iga Świątek in 2020.
During the trophy presentation, Andreeva expressed gratitude towards herself for her determination, saying, "for believing in myself, always giving 100%, even when it's tough, trying every day to be better as a person and as a player, believing that I can do this, fighting so many demons inside me." She acknowledged the challenges she faced, stating, "Only I know how tough it was for me. How nervous I was throughout these two weeks."
Chwalinska, ranked 114th in the world, was vying to become the first qualifier to win the tournament but faced a formidable opponent in world number eight, Andreeva. During the awards ceremony, Chwalinska lightheartedly remarked, "You're so young and talented. It's so annoying," acknowledging Andreeva's skill and accomplishments.
In the men's draw, Alexander Zverev of Germany is set to compete for his first Grand Slam title against Flavio Cobolli on Sunday.
