Swiatek explained that she selected the dress independently, as the WTA does not provide outfit recommendations. "I tried it at home and wanted to ensure I had the right outfits for these parties since I know they always happen in China," she stated. She opted for red this time, noting, "I felt like I've been wearing black lately because it's always the easiest, but I wanted something nicer. I like this one. Red fits me, so I feel pretty confident in it."

On the court, Swiatek reflected on her performance, acknowledging that while the match score may have seemed decisive, it was more challenging than it indicated. She recorded 21 unforced errors and four double faults but managed to convert six of her 16 break-point opportunities and saved seven of nine on her serve.

This victory marks her 40th win of the season, and she is set to advance to the third round in Wuhan for the second consecutive year. "I'm happy to get the first match on the center court because I didn't get a chance to play there before," she said, noting improvements in her match play.

Swiatek's next opponent will be American Ashlyn Krueger, who reached this stage after defeating Lanlana Tararudee 2-6, 6-1, 6-1. This match will be their first encounter on the WTA Tour.
