Jordan Amati Promoted to Assistant Men's Basketball Coach at University of Akron

Entering his third season with the Zips in 2026-27, Amati brings diverse experience in player development, scouting, and program operations. Since joining the coaching staff, he has played a key role in supporting student-athlete development and the team's daily operations.

"We are excited to elevate Jordan to assistant coach," Ford stated. "His dedication, attention to detail, and hard work have earned him this opportunity. Jordan's strong work ethic and comprehensive understanding of the game, along with his skills in player development and scouting, make him an invaluable addition to our staff. I look forward to seeing his continued growth as a coach and his contributions to our program."

Before his tenure at Akron, Amati served four years as a student manager at West Virginia University under Hall of Fame coach Bob Huggins. In Morgantown, he honed his abilities in player development and scouting while supporting high-caliber collegiate basketball.

Amati also expanded his basketball knowledge through volunteer work with USA Basketball, aiding at training camps for the U.S. Olympic team, the FIBA World Cup team, and the U18 National Team. His duties included assignments at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado, as well as in Las Vegas.

Furthermore, he interned with the NBA during All-Star Weekend, where he worked in player marketing as a liaison for players such as Jaylen Brown, Chet Holmgren, and Jalen Williams.

Amati's promotion highlights his growth within the Akron program as the Zips prepare for the upcoming 2026-27 season.
