Mizzou Soccer Hosts Auburn in SEC Match on September 24

COLUMBIA, Mo. – The University of Missouri soccer team will continue its home stretch by facing Auburn in an SEC match on Thursday, September 24, at 6 p.m. at Audrey J. Walton Stadium. This will be the 12th meeting between the teams, with Missouri leading the all-time series 5-4-2. Last season, the teams played to a 1-1 draw in their regular-season finale.

Missouri is coming off a 2-1 loss to Kentucky in its SEC home opener on September 18. Despite outshooting the Wildcats 8-5, Missouri conceded two goals and was unable to equalize despite a late effort from Rylie Morse, who scored a free kick in the 88th minute.

Auburn arrives with a record of 5-1-3 (1-1-0 SEC) and is unbeaten in eight of its nine matches this season. The team's only loss was a 1-0 defeat against Alabama on September 11, while they recently secured a convincing 3-0 victory against Ole Miss. Defensively, Auburn has excelled, allowing just two goals throughout the season, leading the SEC in goals-against average (0.22) and save percentage (.882). Their sophomore goalkeeper, Ayana Yapo, is a standout with a conference-leading GAA and save percentage.

Missouri has performed well in its home matches this season, attracting a total of 4,393 fans to the newly renovated Walton Stadium, including a record 2,324 attendees during its opener against Saint Louis. The stadium renovation, funded by a significant donation from Audrey J. Walton, provided a new natural grass playing surface among other improvements.

In recent performances, notable players include Brianna Buels, who set a program record by scoring just 14 seconds into the match against Murray State. Emily Derucki secured her first game-winning goal in the same match, while Rylie Morse recorded the first two goals of her career on Senior Night. Freshman Lana Adams also contributed significantly, registering two goals against SEMO.
