Houston Women's Basketball to Compete in Coconut Hoops Tournament

FORT MYERS, Fla. – The University of Houston Women's Basketball team has been selected to participate in the Coconut Hoops Great Egret Division, scheduled for November 27 and 29, as announced by bdG Sports on Tuesday. The event will be held at FGCU's Alico Arena, featuring teams from Houston, Creighton, Tennessee, and FGCU.

Houston is set to face Creighton in the first-round matchup at 4 p.m. on Friday, November 27. The evening game will feature FGCU taking on Tennessee at 6:30 p.m. The winners of these games will meet in the championship match at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, November 29, while the losing teams will play in a consolation game at 4 p.m.

This matchup will mark the first time the Cougars have played the Bluejays since 2013, with Creighton leading the all-time series 3-1. If Houston faces FGCU, it would be their third encounter, with the Eagles currently holding a 2-0 advantage. A game against Tennessee would represent the first meeting between the two programs.

Coconut Hoops was established in 2013 as the Gulf Coast Showcase. Notable past champions include UConn, Stanford, Baylor, Texas, Notre Dame, Iowa, and Michigan. College basketball analyst Debbie Antonelli expressed her enthusiasm for the event, stating, "I'm really looking forward to watching these programs compete in Fort Myers this November.
