Rookie Contract Extensions Gain Momentum in the NBA, but Scoot Henderson Remains Uncertain

September marks the start of rookie contract extension discussions across the NBA as teams have until the day before the regular season to finalize agreements with players heading toward restricted free agency. As the season nears, the frequency of signings typically increases.

Today, the Detroit Pistons announced a significant deal, signing All-Defensive forward Ausar Thompson to a five-year contract worth $155 million, according to Shams Charania of ESPN.

In a different situation, guard Pelle Larsson, a second-round pick, secured a four-year, $60 million agreement with the Miami Heat, also reported by Charania.

Conversely, Pistons forward Jalen Duren remains unsigned as he did not agree to an extension last summer, leaving him a restricted free agent.

Another player in the mix for an extension is Scoot Henderson of the Portland Trail Blazers. However, there has been no indication of discussions or progress between the two sides concerning an agreement.
