Jakub Mensik Achieves ATP Top 20 Ranking

Mensik’s journey began with notable success in the junior circuit, where, despite still participating in ITF junior tournaments in 2022, he almost clinched the boys’ singles title at the Australian Open, finishing as the runner-up to Bruno Kuzuhara. He turned professional the following month, finishing his junior career with an impressive 85-28 singles record.

His first Grand Slam experience came at the 2023 US Open after he advanced easily through the qualifiers. Mensik won his first two matches, defeating Gregoire Barrere in four sets and fellow qualifier Titouan Droguet. However, his tournament ended in the third round against No. 9 seed Taylor Fritz. Since then, Mensik has competed in 11 additional Grand Slam tournaments.

In 2025, Mensik captured his first Masters 1000 title at the Miami Open, where he faced Fritz again in the semifinals, winning a closely contested match. In the final, he triumphed over 2023 US Open champion Novak Djokovic, winning both sets in tiebreaks, securing the title with scores of 7-6, 7-6.

Mensik reached a career-high ATP ranking of No. 12 on March 2, 2026, following his Miami Open victory, and is currently ranked No. 15. A strong performance in an upcoming ATP 500 or Masters 1000 event could propel him into the ATP Top 10 for the first time.

At the 2026 French Open, Mensik advanced to the semifinals, marking his best Grand Slam performance to date. He won his opening match against Titouan Droguet, followed by a five-set victory over Mariano Navone, and then took down Alex de Minaur. In a gripping quarterfinal match, he defeated Andrey Rublev but succumbed to Alexander Zverev, the eventual champion, in the semifinals.

Additionally, Mensik secured his first Grand Slam title in mixed doubles at the 2026 US Open, partnering with fellow Czech player Karolina Muchová. Despite their lack of prior experience together, they reached the final, defeating Belinda Bencic and Flavio Cobolli in a competitive match.
