Czechia Secures 12th Billie Jean King Cup Title with Victory Over Ukraine

Muchova started the final with a commanding 6-2, 6-3 win over Anhelina Kalinina. Following her, Noskova defeated Elina Svitolina with a score of 6-3, 7-6 (5) to complete the sweep. This victory marks Czechia's first title since 2018 and Barbora Strycova's debut win as captain, a role she assumed after being part of the Czech team that won six titles from 2011 to 2018.

With this latest triumph, Czechia has won 12 of its 13 appearances in Billie Jean King Cup finals.

Muchova, currently ranked World No. 8, dominated Kalinina from the start. She secured two breaks in the first set and faced minimal pressure on her serve, finishing the set in just over 30 minutes. Despite Kalinina's previous successes, including singles and doubles victories in Ukraine's quarterfinal win against Belgium, Muchova elevated her game in the final. After going up 3-2 in the second set, she maintained control and limited Kalinina's scoring opportunities, closing the match with a forehand winner.

In a closely contested match, Noskova faced Svitolina, who initially took a 3-1 lead. However, Noskova quickly responded, winning five consecutive games to take the first set 6-3. The second set remained tight, with neither player able to secure a break point, leading to a tiebreak. At 3-3, Svitolina hit two aces, but Noskova capitalized on her championship points, winning the match after Svitolina's final shot went wide.

Noskova celebrated on the court as her teammates, including Strycova, rushed to join her in celebration.

Despite the loss, Ukraine made significant strides this week, achieving its first final appearance after reaching the semifinals in 2025 and defeating Belgium and reigning champion Italy to reach this stage.
