The partnership will commence during the China Open in Beijing, taking place from September 28 to October 11, and will extend across all five tournaments in the 2026 China Swing, including the Dongfeng Voyah · Wuhan Open, 2026 BNB Ningbo Open, Guangzhou Open, and Prudential Hong Kong Tennis Open.
Together, WTA Ventures and QQ Music plan to develop content combining music with narratives from women’s tennis. This initiative aims to showcase the players' unique personalities and emotions through music, providing fans a deeper engagement with the tournaments beyond just the competition results. Additionally, the partnership seeks to strengthen connections with Chinese-speaking communities and promote interest in tennis.
The collaboration comes amid significant growth for women's tennis in China, highlighted by the presence of top-ranked players like World No.38 Wang Xinyu, World No.57 Zhang Shuai, and 2024 Olympic champion Zheng Qinwen. In 2025, viewership of WTA international events in China surged over 30-fold, and the WTA's social media following in the region increased by 17% to 2.3 million, with a notable rise on short-video platforms like Douyin, Rednote, and WeChat.
Sarah Swanson, Chief Marketing Officer of WTA Ventures, stated that this partnership signifies a major step in the WTA's digital media strategy aimed at Chinese audiences, emphasizing the desire to increase the reach of women’s tennis through music. Hau Zhang, Vice President of QQ Music at Tencent Music Entertainment Group, expressed honor in collaborating to merge tennis and music, further promoting women’s tennis in China.
