Dom Dono Named Big Ten Freshman of the Week

EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State men's soccer player Dom Dono has been recognized as the Big Ten Freshman of the Week, as announced by the league on Tuesday.

Dono, hailing from Plymouth, Michigan, scored his first collegiate goal in the Spartans' 3-0 victory over No. 13 Wisconsin on September 25. Coming off the bench, he netted the second goal of the match in the 44th minute. This marks Dono's first Freshman of the Week honor.

He is the first player from Michigan State to earn a Player of the Week accolade this season.

Dono joins two other Spartans who have previously received B1G Freshman of the Week honors. Midfielder Peter Soudan received the award on September 30, 2025, and later earned Big Ten Freshman of the Year honors. The award was first introduced for the 2024 season, during which midfielder Brandon Munson was named Freshman of the Week on October 1, 2024. Additionally, Luke Spadafora was honored with the Big Ten Freshman of the Year title on September 2, 2025.

Currently, the No. 8/7 Spartans have an overall record of 7-1-1 and are unbeaten at 3-0 in Big Ten play. Michigan State will face UCLA on Saturday, October 3, at 9 p.m. ET.
