George, selected as the 16th overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft, had a standout 2025-26 season, averaging career highs of 23.6 points and 6.1 assists per game, while also contributing 3.7 rebounds and 1.1 steals.
Austin Ainge, the Jazz's president of basketball operations, praised George’s development and commitment, highlighting his leadership and connection with teammates. "We’re thrilled he’s choosing to remain in Utah as a foundational piece as we continue chasing our ultimate goal: a championship," Ainge said.
At 22 years old, George's performance has improved across his first three NBA seasons. He now joins a Jazz roster that includes veterans Lauri Markkanen and Jaren Jackson Jr., along with recent lottery picks Darryn Peterson and Ace Bailey, who were selected second and fifth overall in the last two drafts, respectively.
The Jazz have faced challenges in recent seasons, securing only 39 wins combined over the last two years, and have not achieved a winning record since the 2021-22 season.
