At the WTA 1000 event in Beijing, Svitolina secured her quarterfinal position by defeating American Ann Li in straight sets, making it her fifth quarterfinal appearance this season. Before the tournament, she was ranked seventh with 4,809 points. After victories over Katerina Siniakova and Maria Sakkari, her point total has grown to 5,024.

Svitolina's ranking improvement was clinched when Czech player Karolina Muchova lost to Nikola Bartunkova, ensuring that no other competitors remaining in the tournament could surpass her position.

In her career, Svitolina has previously reached third in the world rankings, a peak she first achieved in September 2017. So far this year, she has won titles in Auckland and Rome, reached the final in Dubai, and advanced to the semifinals of the Australian Open.

Her next match is scheduled for October 9 in Beijing against China’s Zheng Qinwen.
