During the preseason, Sochan participated in four games for Portland. The team currently has a roster of 17 players, which includes three on two-way contracts. In the Blazers' preseason opener against the Golden State Warriors on October 7, Sochan recorded 10 points on 4-of-6 shooting and made both of his three-point attempts in just nine minutes, achieving a team-high plus/minus of +12.

Sochan played 20 minutes in the game against the London Lions on October 12, finishing with eight points, eight rebounds, two assists, and one steal, shooting 4-for-6 from the field. However, in a matchup with the Sacramento Kings, he played only seven minutes, the least on the team, and did not score, although he did grab two rebounds and made two assists. In another game in San Francisco, he contributed six points, three rebounds, one assist, and one blocked shot over 12 minutes, shooting 2-for-3 overall and also hitting both of his three-point attempts.

Sochan was considered a low-risk signing for the Blazers, having averaged 11 points per game during his three seasons with the San Antonio Spurs, where he also averaged over six rebounds per game in his last two seasons. After starting the previous season in various roles, including point guard, his playing time diminished and he was waived by the Spurs in February. Following that, the Knicks signed him, but he appeared in only 16 regular-season games, averaging less than seven minutes per game.

Throughout his career, Sochan has averaged 9.9 points, 5.4 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 1.5 turnovers per game, with shooting percentages of 47% from the field, 28.6% from beyond the arc, and 72.5% from the free-throw line.
