Amanda Anisimova Withdraws from Singapore Tennis Open Due to Wrist Injury

Amanda Anisimova, the No. 2 seed and ranked No. 11 in the world, has withdrawn from the Singapore Tennis Open due to a left wrist injury. She received a bye in the first round and was set to face Australia's Talia Gibson in the second round. Viktoria Morvayova, a lucky loser, will take Anisimova's spot and compete against Gibson.

Anisimova's last match was at the US Open last month, where she lost to Anastasia Potapova in the third round. This season, the 25-year-old American has a record of 22 wins and 12 losses on the WTA Tour and was looking for her first title of the year, having last won in Beijing during the previous Asian swing.

In other matches on Tuesday, No. 8 seed Donna Vekic was defeated by China's Xinyu Wang with a score of 6-1, 6-2, marking Wang's second straight victory over Vekic, tying their head-to-head record at 2-2. American Alycia Parks won against Mei Yamaguchi, 6-4, 6-3, to advance to the round of 16. Tatiana Prozorova also moved forward after defeating Sofia Costoulas 5-7, 7-6 (6), 6-2, while Oleksandra Oliynykova of Ukraine beat Vivian Wolff 6-1, 7-6 (5).
