Kevin Knox, selected ninth overall by the New York Knicks in the 2018 NBA Draft, is attempting to revive his NBA career with a training camp agreement with the Orlando Magic. After spending 3.5 seasons with the Knicks, Knox was traded in February 2022. Last season marked the first time Knox did not participate in any regular season games, as he played for the Windy City Bulls in the G League. There, he averaged 21.4 points, 7.6 rebounds, and 2.2 assists over 39 combined appearances, including the Tip-Off Tournament.
Knox's time with the Knicks included early promise; he was named to the 2018 All-Summer League First Team and earned Eastern Conference Rookie of the Month honors in December of that year. He scored a career-high 31 points on January 13, 2019. However, the Knicks struggled during his rookie season, finishing with a record of 17-65.
Following his rookie campaign, Knox's playing time declined each year, and although the team made the playoffs in his final full season, he played in only one game during their first-round exit against the Atlanta Hawks. Over 195 career regular season games with the Knicks, he averaged 8.2 points and 3.1 rebounds, with shooting percentages of 36.9% from the field and 34.6% from three-point range.
As he joins the Magic, there is a chance for him to secure a roster spot, although the team may choose to keep it open as the regular season approaches.
