Ohio Soccer Edged by Akron in Close Match

In goal, freshman Ayla Rammel from Englewood, Ohio, started the match, giving up one goal and making three saves in the full 90 minutes.

The match was competitive, with Ohio struggling to capitalize on several scoring opportunities. Despite the Bobcats' efforts, the first half ended scoreless, with Ohio registering four shots and three corner kicks compared to Akron's two shots and one corner.

Akron took the lead in the 53rd minute with a free-kick goal, pushing the score to 1-0 less than 10 minutes into the second half. Ohio pressed to find an equalizer, with Fakinou's shot in the 72nd minute going just right of the goal. Burchett managed to create a vital opportunity in the 74th minute, forcing a save from Akron, but the score remained unchanged. In the closing seconds, Ohio had one last attempt, but their shot went wide, sealing Akron's victory.
