Dani Carnegie Leads Team USA to Gold at FIBA 3x3 U23 World Cup

Iowa women's basketball guard Dani Carnegie contributed to Team USA's gold medal victory at the 2026 FIBA 3x3 U23 World Cup held in Wuhan, China. The United States triumphed over Canada 15-10 in the championship game, marking the team’s second title in this tournament. This win capped an undefeated run for Team USA, which won all six of its matches throughout the competition.

In the group stage, Carnegie demonstrated her skills by scoring 17 points, along with 14 rebounds and four assists. In the knockout rounds, she added 19 points, nine rebounds, two assists, and one block, which included a strong performance in the final match where she recorded five points and four rebounds.

This achievement follows a successful summer for Carnegie with USA Basketball, as she played a key role in securing a spot in the U23 World Cup by winning the 2026 FIBA 3x3 Nations League, Americas North Conference, in July in Ñuñoa, Chile. She also participated in the USA Basketball 3X Showcase in May, helping Team Phoenix clinch the title.

Carnegie joined the Iowa Hawkeyes this offseason through the transfer portal after earning unanimous first-team All-SEC honors at Georgia in the 2025-26 season, where she averaged 17.8 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 3.2 assists per game. Prior to her time at Georgia, she was recognized as the ACC Sixth Player of the Year and was named to the All-ACC freshman team while at Georgia Tech in the 2024-25 season.

Iowa will begin its 2026-27 season with an exhibition match against Maryville at Carver-Hawkeye Arena on October 29, followed by its regular-season opener against Towson on November 2.
