On Monday, the school held a meeting to update parents on the situation and discuss potential consequences as well as next steps for the district. The Delaware County Sheriff's Office has stated it will not pursue criminal charges, citing insufficient evidence and cooperation from those involved in the investigation.
School officials reported the hazing claims to the sheriff's office. In a statement, Olentangy Local Schools emphasized that hazing is unacceptable. "Hazing has no place in Olentangy Schools. We are committed to providing a safe and supportive environment for all students and conduct that compromises a student’s safety, dignity or well-being is not tolerated," the district said.
District leaders reiterated their commitment to addressing concerns related to student conduct seriously, following established procedures which may involve law enforcement when appropriate.
