Manchester United is focusing on acquiring a new left-back and is expected to compete with Real Madrid for the signature of Bayer Leverkusen's Miguel Gutierrez. The club had previously pursued Newcastle’s Lewis Hall over the summer but failed to secure a deal as Hall signed a new long-term contract with Newcastle, complicating any potential transfer.

Gutierrez, 25, who developed through Real Madrid’s youth system, is believed to be on the radar of his former club, adding to United's competition. Besides Real Madrid, AC Milan and Juventus have also shown interest in the player. Leverkusen is hesitant to part with Gutierrez, who is under contract until 2031, giving them a strong negotiating position.
Despite this, United is actively monitoring Gutierrez, among other options. The club is also looking at RB Leipzig’s David Raum, whose contract expires at the end of the current season. Leipzig may feel pressured to sell Raum, a 39-time capped Germany international, for around £30 million rather than risk losing him for free.
Additionally, Crystal Palace’s Tyrick Mitchell is another potential target for United. His contract also ends this season, although Palace holds an option to extend it by an additional year. If Palace cannot secure a long-term deal with Mitchell, he may also be considered by United in January.
