Ohio State Tennis Players Compete at US Open

Among the competitors, four were former student athletes: J.J. Wolf in singles and JJ Tracy, Robert Cash, and Matej Vocel in doubles. Current team members Bryce Nakashima, Nikita Filin, and Brandon Carpico also took part in the doubles main draw.

Carpico and Filin earned a spot in the doubles main draw as American Wildcards, securing their position by winning the 2026 American Collegiate Player Wildcard Playoffs with a two-set victory over Indiana's Michael Andre and Matteo Antonescu. In the tournament, Filin and Carpico finished with a 2-1 record, reaching the third round and becoming the only current college players to make it to the final 16 teams. They overcame the No. 8 seeds, Orlando Luz and Rafael Matos, after being down a set in all matches before ultimately losing to three-time US Open Doubles champions Rajeev Ram and Joe Salisbury.

Tracy returned to the US Open doubles with a new partner, Francisco Cabral. This duo reached the third round as the No. 16 seed but lost in straight sets to the world's top pairing, Harri Heliovaara and Henry Patten. Cash teamed with Alexander Erler and made it to the second round, where they were defeated by the 13th-seeded Lucas Miedler and Marc Polmans.

Both Nakashima and Vocel experienced first-round exits, with Nakashima playing alongside his brother, Brandon, against Miedler and Polmans, and Vocel teaming with Jakub Paul, losing to the 12th-seeded Hugo Nys and Edouard Roger-Vasselin.

In singles, J.J. Wolf was the only Buckeye to advance, competing against the 15th-seeded Alexander Bublik. Wolf won the third set 6-3 but ultimately lost in the fourth set, ending his run at the tournament.

Looking ahead, the Buckeyes will participate in the fall tournament season, starting with the ITA All-American Championships on September 19 in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
