Michigan State Women's Basketball Begins 2026-27 Practice Season

Fralick expressed enthusiasm for the start of the season, stating, "I love the beginnings of stories. I love the energy that surrounds opening day. It is still an important thing in our program. I am excited for this particular group to keep growing and getting better."

Last season, the Spartans finished with a 23-9 record and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament in Fralick's third year as head coach. Key returning players include second-team All-Big Ten guard Kennedy Blair, who averaged 14.5 points per game as a redshirt sophomore, and graduate guard Theryn Hallock, who is returning from an injury that sidelined her for much of last season.

Fralick highlighted Hallock's significance to the team: "It is great to have Theryn back and to have her healthy. She adds so many dimensions to our game in so many ways, experience and playing at Michigan State. I think that she learned a lot being out a year."

As Fralick enters her fourth season, she welcomes nine newcomers, including five transfers and four freshmen. Notable transfers include senior forward Carter McCray from West Virginia and Tabitha Betson from Colorado.

The Spartans will play their first exhibition game against Michigan Tech on Wednesday, Oct. 28, with the tip-off time yet to be announced. This marks the second consecutive year that Michigan State will host the Huskies for an exhibition contest. Additionally, sophomore transfer Anna Wypych will compete against her sister Alyssa, a senior at Michigan Tech.
