UCLA has added an exciting new player to its roster in Nikola Kusturica, a 17-year-old Serbian talent who joins the Bruins as a freshman this season. Head coach Mick Cronin praised Kusturica, describing him as one of the best players in his age group during an interview at the Big Ten Media Days.

Cronin noted Kusturica’s impressive maturity, stating, "He doesn't turn 18 until April, but you wouldn't know it." He emphasized that Kusturica, who has lived independently in Barcelona since he was 14, comes from a supportive family, particularly highlighting his father's involvement in his career decisions. This foundation has contributed to Kusturica's readiness for college basketball.

Originally from Serbia, Kusturica previously played for FC Barcelona, where he averaged 24.6 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 2.7 assists per game last summer. As he joins the Bruins, he is expected to be a key player on both ends of the court.

However, Cronin also pointed out that Kusturica will face challenges as he adjusts to the physicality of college basketball. "He'll have his ups and downs because it's a different game than he's used to," Cronin said. Despite this, Kusturica's height of 6'9'' and existing talent suggest he has significant potential for growth, which could be concerning for opposing teams as the season progresses.
